Melanie Poolos began her ballet training at the age of 5 with SDAB. As a dancer with SDAB, she has performed leading roles such as Clara, Lead Arabian, Snow Queen and Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Princess Florine in Sleeping Beauty Act III, Kitri in Don Quixote Act III, Paquita in Paquita, and Big Swans in Swan Lake Act II. She has also performed many Contemporary and Jazz dances choreographed by Whitney McCannon such as Triplets, Americano, Graditude, Part II and Strange Things. Melanie competed in YAGP for several years and participated in the Ensemble Finals at YAGP, New York in 2009.
Along with her dance education, Melanie was awarded the title of Distinguished Young Woman of San Diego, Class of 2013 and recently graduated from UC San Diego with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Melanie was a former SDAB teacher and now works for a pharmaceutical company and manages the SDAB website.
